This goes well with the picture of the Z cars on the docks. So, brand spankin’ new 240z or new 510… which would you prefer?

Been putting some time into the wagon… and yes, these are all Instagram photos. I’m too lazy to lug around my camera, so phone pictures will have to do.

She’s currently sitting two inches lower via drop blocks and AGX adjustable Camaro shocks in the rear, and 280zx struts/brakes and Techno Toy Tuning coilovers, camber plates, RCA’s, and tension control rods in the front. I also threw on a set of 15×7 +11 SSR Longchamps that I had in storage with almost new Nexen (cheap-o) tires.

I’m still waiting to install or receive: T3 control arms, T3 tie rods, T3 strut tower bar, Energy Suspension poly sway bar bushings, a new idler arm, 280zx rear disc brakes (with handbrake), an extra leaf to flip and stiffen up the rear, poly and brass leaf pucks (bushings), Goodridge braided brake lines,

I basically bought T3′s entire front end to create the most rugged street wagon possible. My thoughts on T3′s parts: Super beefy and over-engineered for a street car… I will likely never need the strength and adjustability that they offer, but I love knowing that it’s there. The downsides is that the spring is too short for my taste (seven inch spring) so the adjuster is maxed out on the top of the coilover sleeve, but I’m going to get a nine inch spring to offer even greater adjustability. Also, the T3 website doesn’t mention that the strut tower bar interferes with the stock hood prop, but the parts to convert to hood struts should be arriving at my door step any day now.

Just for giggles, I picked up a set of headlight trim, or “visors”, because I saw them on my friend Justin’s old Corolla wagon and loved the look. The chrome is super shiny and makes my trim and grill look like crap though.

I’ve got a bunch more parts coming that will add to the style and functionality of the goon, but alas, she will soon be too well built for that asthmatic L16. Soon enough, the engine build parts hoarding can begin!

Oh, and big thanks to the world famous BKH808, Justin, Jordan for helping out with the installs.  Couldn’t have done it without them.

Been spending a ton of money on parts and working on the wagon. Nothing that really deserves any pictures. Got the horn hooked up, fixed the headlights (only one was working before), hooked up the reverse lights, fixed a sagging door with new door hinge bushings, and made a hood release cable.

I have a ton of parts that need to go on, but I AM IN DIRE NEED OF 280ZX FRONT HUBS! There are zero choices at the junk yards here, and everybody I contact who’s parting one out either flakes on me or wants something crazy ($100+ shipping). If anybody can help me out with some cheap hubs, you will be rewarded with awesome satisfaction and pictures!

SSR Wagon

This picture is so sick! I’ve always loved the SSR MK3/MK2 staggered look.

Nothing much going on. Did a little bit of work on the wagon but nothing groundbreaking. Been hanging out with the infamous BKH808. Here’s some random pictures that I like.

By the way, have you guys checked out High Top Fade? It’s a pretty amazing blog.

Patrick, the owner of the infamously liveried Kenmeri Skyline is updating his looks. BOSO STYLE! There are definitely not enough Boso’ed cars in the states, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this project finished!

Check out the vintage Dunlop slicks! I just got my hands on something spectacular, and let me say this… as far as wide tires go in 14 inch selection, there is not much. I would think more manufacturers would put product out for the old school muscle cars, but I guess not.

Picked all these up off of JNC for $60 shipped. Not bad considering if I can ever find any Japanese tuning mag here (usually Option, Drift Tengoku, or VIP Car), it’s $20+ for an old issue. Score!

Added bonus, in the Z car HyperRev, a page is signed by Steve Millen!

Pretty sure everybody has seen this Skyline from the Nostalgic2Days show.

What I just noticed is the vented carbon fiber fender goodness. Mmmmmmm…

Interior: DONE!

Got all that nasty sound deadening out! What a tedious PITA! Not really looking forward to stripping the underbody, but I want this car to be solid. Planning on Por15′ing the interior and underbody. After that, the interior gets Dynamat/Fatmat/whatevers, and exterior gets a rubberized undercoating.

Finished interior

And a bad ass picture for inspiration.

JDM 510

I also have a B210 brake booster and a pretty nice rear bumper being shipped over. My tax return is getting smaller and smaller!

All kinds of cool stuff has happened since I’ve been M.I.A. RB26′ed the Z and SR’ed the 510. Picked up a Hako to play around with on the weekends and a Lamborghini Murcielago SV 670 for a daily driver.

Yeah right.

Truth is, I’ve just been busy with work, going back to school full time, taking care of my girl, and generally having fun with life. Kind of lost interest in cars and toyed with the idea of selling the wagon, but once it’s in your blood, there’s no giving it up. The bug to wrench bit the other week, and it’s bitten HARD. Been working on the 510, but it’s hard since I have no garage and have to do everything in my parking stall in my apartment’s garage. They don’t like me tinkering with my car in there, so I can’t tear it apart like I want to. However, I have been breaking down the interior, piece by piece, so I can remove the sound deadening. It’s slow work since I don’t want to risk using dry ice and being on the news as the guy found dead from fumes (no ventilation in the garage). So far I’ve done the front floor pans, transmission tunnel, most of the firewall, and have started on the rear pans today. The majority of the floors are pretty solid, so I’m pretty happy with that. I also have a full urethane bushing kit from Prothane and moog ball joints making it’s way over the ocean, and am planning to hit up Gabe at Techno Toy Tuning again for the full front suspension.

Updated plans!

Short term:

*Strip sound deadening/rust repair/Por15.

*Strip undercoating/Por15 undercarriage.

*Suspension refresh. New bushings, T3 front suspension, rear drop blocks, etc.

*Repaint mismatched panels.

*Fix sagging door hinges.

*General maintenance and refreshing of whatevers.

Long term:

*SR20DET

*Repaint engine bay.

*Cut and reweld transmission tunnel so I can achieve the massive low.

*Fabricate skid plates/reinforce underbody to protect from the massive low.

*Sick wheels. Something rare. Riversides? Techno Phantoms?

*Bulletproof rear end. Ford 9″ maybe? Not sure, gotta do a lot more research.

Ideally, I want to keep the patina. I want it to look like a low and ratty 510 on some awesome wheels, that everybody thinks is slow until I drop the hammer. I want the outside looking just like it is, but the engine bay spotless and tucked, with the undercarriage looking brand new. I’m weird like that. I’m going to pace myself on this one though, so don’t expect a quick build. Unfortunately, I came to the conclusion that since I don’t have a garage, the engine swap will have to be outsourced. Hopefully, I can borrow someplace to do most of the work, and just pay to have it set up, but we’ll see how that goes. I’m not even sure if I can find a place to put the car on jack stands long enough to take care of the undercarriage.

The worst of the rust:
